"He struck her 15 times with the ax before she collapsed in the street."
Yikes. If you thought witnessing Jehovah was hard, this is next level.

that's where the action is.. it's early saturday morning in passaic, nj.
it's january and i'm bloody freezing.. i'm standing on the street corner in my black trench coat getting ready to ply my wares.

looking back on my two decades as a jehovah’s witness, i’ve come to realize how the constant theme of endurance is playing a detrimental role on the individual's psyche.. jehovah’s witnesses have become far too good at keeping going.
they’re experts at surrendering to the demands of the watchtower, living up to what’s expected of them, and getting on with the priorities that those in power have defined and imposed upon them.
they keep showing up, presenting themselves a dutiful pioneer or ministerial servant.
@Truthseeker Your latest post on Street Work With the Sisters (https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5717175395418112/street-work-sisters) has me in "a perpetual state of urgency".
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
most jws are familiar with the scripture at matthew 24:5: "for many will come in my name, saying, ‘i am the christ,’ and they will lead many astray.".
it is implied that people would come in jesus' name declaring that they were christ - but could there be another view on this scripture?
could this also mean that jesus said many would come in his name saying he is christ?.
@truthseeker Yeah, it's an interesting concept. Let us know what you find!

@truthseeker: "Jesus said this to his disciples before he was known as 'the Christ.'"
Are you sure?
Unless Matthew 16 ("You are the Christ") was written AFTER Matthew 24 ("many will come in my name"), it appears that Peter was clued in to this term.

LIGHTBULB MOMENT. I get what you're saying now. You think maybe any references to Jesus being known as "Christ" got thrown in after Jesus died?
I don't know... I checked the references in my Bible glossary, and "Christ" is even spoken about just a few chapters earlier in Matthew 16:16 where Peter says to Jesus, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
I mean... that would have given Jesus a chance to set the record straight with Peter it there was an identity mix up?

@truthseeker OH! Sorry, lol. I got up to you coffee order at Dunkin' Donuts before you added more, thinking... No one woke up or got murdered in this narrative. Wtf.

I'm going to skip the brainteaser and make this observation on Matthew 24:5...
There will be imposters of the Christ, leading people astray.
Just who is Christ? John 14:6, Jesus says "I am... the truth."
What does Watchtower call itself? The truth.
And lead many astray, they do.
i got invited as a +1 to someone's house yesterday to watch the fireworks.
i'd never met the hosts, and it seemed that most of the people in the group only knew one or two other people there.
yet i felt more genuine friendship from everyone there than i ever felt at any jw gathering.
@zeb. That's nice. Some asshole stole my BlackBerry yesterday. Satan's world has been nicer to you that it has to me, lol. Bloody worldly people.

we have a lot of newbies who deserve to know what the society actually printed.. yes really.
after meticulous research here are the documented scientific pronouncements from the wtbt$.. note: the golden age became the awake magazine.. the reference twtp is the way to paradise a 1924 book by w. e. van amburgh, who was the secretary/treasurer of the watchtower bible & tract society for 43 years.
“Disease (is caused by) fermentation and heat.........not germs." GA Aug 25 1926
Hey, that's one step up from disease being attributed to Jehovah's disapproval on the afflicted one. Turns out all King Uzziah needed was a little ventilation in his palace.
